Have you looked at your brushes lately?
You’ve saved your money for months and finally bought the brush set of your dreams. Each one is unique and creates a visual art piece of magical makeup application. Not only does your set take care of you artistically, they take care of financially as well.
Think about it…your car needs maintenance in order to function properly, right? At least so it can function to its fullest potential. Well, why aren’t you treating your brushes with the same respect?
Have you looked at your brushes lately? My number one pet peeve and stomach upset is an un-sanitized makeup artist with their nasty brush set! If not for your sake what about the clients? The bacteria in your brushes could cause some serious breakouts or pass on germs and diseases.
Quick sanitations for one time applications are great but you should really make the time to bring your brushes back to life with a complete cleansing. It’s easy!
1. Lay your brushes in a tupperware container of oil free makeup remover for a few minutes (2-3min) to loosen the makeup from the bristles.
2. Using baby shampoo in the palm of your hand, work the soap with a little cold water to wash out the grime. Keep doing this until the brush’s water is clear.
3. Place the brush bristles between your first two fingers and squeeze out the excess by sliding your fingers from the base of the brush to the tip.
4. Lay the brush flat on a cotton towel to dry overnight.
5. Once they are completely dry you can re-fluff them to their original form and they are ready to use!
